i spent a good amount of the last two days giving my bedroom a makeover. i needed a big change of pace and a project to do by myself, so this was the perfect solution. i love working on house stuff.

voila! my newly repainted and redecorated room.

first off, i got a new cheap desk from ikea. my old desk was a hand me down that was handed down four times over probably. it was wobbly and sort of unstable to have a computer on. my new desk gives me a lot more surface space, and my scanner was able to come up instead of being at my feet.

and the after. not a huge difference, but very noticeable when i'm working.

as for my bedroom, i got a new duvet cover from ikea. they didn't have anything i really liked a lot, so i got the one i liked most. when i got home, i realized it didn't really fit with the color of my room or any of my stuff. thus, i was encouraged to do a bedroom makeover! this weekend i sort of felt like holing myself up in my house anyway. don't worry, i got to enjoy the beautiful weather when the paint was drying, and when i was outside staining everything.

the new

i had a lot of stuff hanging up which eventually started to feel cluttered and overwhelming.

the new color, a greyish purple. as this dried, i went outside and stained my bedframe, picture frames, shelves, etc!

here's the finished product. ahh. feels nice and orderly, and a little more adult as well. the previous color was just a sort of regular bedroom color and i was pretty sick of it. it also felt too summery for my taste lately. and also i was just sick of having things that color, and having raw wood color for everything. this is much more stark and clean feeling, and i framed everything as well.

my room is very rover centric! if you look back at all the pictures hanging on my walls, most of them are rover... haha.

another picture i took of rover, but with my digital camera. a photo from daniel's removing mountains series, and a drawing i've had for several years that my old friend mary pearson did for me. i've had it hanging above my bed in every room since.

some polaroids daniel took of rover, and an etsy print that was a moving away gift from nat and cory when we left baltimore

a chalkboard i used to write upcoming shows on, but as you can see, i haven't updated it in FOREVER. on the shelf are some old cards i've had for years, a typewriter i bought from sonny simpson at the charm city art space punk rock flea market. i just have it for looks. i don't use it. some dried flowers. some colored pencils. two tiny paintings that cory made. my medium format camera. a little container from daniel's mom i think. or my mom? from christmas. and a thankyou card from daniel's bday a few years ago with a picture of rover on the front.

You just couldn't stand the thought of erasing my name from your chalkboard. I understand.

it reminds me of the makeovers on apartmenttherapy.com. You should submit it to their flicker pile, they are always looking for good makeover shots!!
